Creating a Footprint for Change

We create a more accessible, less ableist world in the outdoor adventure space for service-connected disabled veterans, those with PTSD, vision and hearing impaired, domestic violence survivors and adaptive adventurers

On March 10, 2026, my life changed in an instant when a reckless driver ran a red light and crashed into me while I was turning left on a protected green arrow. My cargo van campervan, which has been my home for the past five years, was destroyed. This van was more than just a place to live—it was the foundation of my outdoor adventure nonprofit, Hike Bike Alke, where I help veterans with PTSD and trauma survivors find healing in nature.

Now, I find myself without a home and unable to continue the work that means so much to me and to those I serve. As a service connected disabled veteran living on a fixed income, I simply do not have the resources to replace my van and rebuild my life on my own. The loss has left me feeling vulnerable, but I am determined to keep moving forward and continue supporting my community.

I am reaching out for help to purchase a new cargo van and rebuild my tiny home on wheels. Any support you can offer would mean the world to me. Your generosity will not only give me a safe place to live, but also allow me to continue helping others heal through nature. Thank you for considering a donation or sharing my story.

Gear to Go Places

Providing ultra-light camping and hiking gear enables those with mobility and spine injuries to enjoy the outdoors to the fullest extent.  Cost of gear is a major barrier to outdoor adventure.

Sponsor a Trip

Solo and group travel opens the outdoors to those who may not have had the means to participate after suffering injury or disability.  Through sponsorship, we can introduce adventure activities.

Training for Instructors

Knowing how to put a harness on a trauma survivor, or understanding how to speak to an adventurer who has PTSD reduces the fear and diminishes the emotional barriers preventing full participation in the outdoors.

Hi, I’m Jennie!

Executive Director, Hike Bike Alike, Inc

My passion is creating a more accessible, less ableist world in the outdoor adventure space for service-connected disabled veterans, those with PTSD, vision and hearing impaired, domestic violence survivors and adaptive adventurers. In the last 3 years, I have visited all 89 Texas state parks, 48 states and the 51 national parks within them bringing awareness to the importance of creating safe accommodating spaces and activities. I also connect technology and gear companies with adventure resorts and companies to break down barriers and costs to creating a more inclusive world. Plus I help create accessibility guides. Through my own activities (downhill mountain biking, hiking, paddleboarding, rock climbing, ice skating, rollerblading and horse riding) I identify the gaps creating those barriers and work toward accessibility for all.
